On Friday evening, July 22, 2016, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Eric Zheng won the title of California State Teen Ambassador at the California State Youth Accolades Scholarship Competition. His on-stage talent was a piano solo performance of the Pirates of the Caribbean medley. The competition finals took place on Thursday & Friday, July 21-22 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Eric Zheng is 13 years old and will be in the 7th grade at Kennedy Middle School. He has been studying piano for 10 years and has been the accompanist for the Colorful Universe Children’s Performing Arts Troupe for 2 years.  He has been involved in solo competitions as well as group competitions with his singing group.  Music Honors include: Piano Advanced Level: Convention Honor; California State Talent Piano Competition: 1st and 2nd place; Forum Music Festival 2016: Gold.

Eric also has a passion for table tennis. “Table tennis has taught me about teamwork,” Eric said, “and its importance for success.  As a leader in my team, my goal is to make sure they are comfortable and confident so that each person can play to their full potential.”

With Eric’s work with the Colorful Universe Children’s Performing Arts Troupe, his choir and with his table tennis he has completed over 250 hours of community service.
